In Victorian flower language, lily of the valley represents “a return to happiness”. Most often though, it seems to act as a reminder of our mothers and grandmothers, and the richness of returning to our matrilineages. It can help us feel connected to anyone in our lives who has helped to nurture an embodiment of our full selves. For those of us with fractured, painful or distant relationships with our mothers, lily of the valley is here for you too — teaching us how to grow in the shady spots.
A single stem of lily of the valley shown in full bloom, with a few small buds suggesting its future growth.
This is a handmade item. The leaves, blossoms and buds are all made with handpainted crepe paper, and wired for shape and longevity.
It is displayed on a wood frame that highlights every botanical detail. The edges of the frame are painted with a lustrous silver wax, and it hangs simply on the wall with a keyhole on the back. Each piece comes signed with a gold wax seal on the reverse, embossed with the Golden Age logo.
